If you get a chance this week to check out the landing page for Data Science Central, you may notice that we’ve begun changing the layout. Part of this has to do with shifting priorities as DSC begins to integrate with the broader TechTarget family, and part comes as general house cleaning in order to consolidate things, hopefully making it easier for you, our readers, to better find and interact with our offerings here.
Your editor is a semanticist by trade, having spent several decades in the world of taxonomies and data modeling, and one switch we’ve made is to start putting more emphasis on taxonomies for navigation. The Topics section will let you explore a number of what we consider essential topics – from old favorites like Data Science, Analytics. and Machine Learning to newer topics such as the Future of Work, Space, Biotech, and similar areas where these technologies have made a significant difference. We’re classifying older content and will continue to do so, so expect to see these areas grow over time.
Another change has been a growing emphasis on video offerings, something we hope to ramp up over the next several months. To all those who want to break into podcasting and videography to a tech-oriented audience, think hard about putting together content for DSC. In a similar vein, if you’ve been interested in writing for DSC, there’s now a very large menu item about how you can Write For Us.
Data Science Central is your community. It is a chance to learn from other practitioners, and a chance to communicate what you know to the data science community overall. I encourage you to submit original articles and to make your name known to the people that are going to be hiring in the coming year. As always let us know what you think.
